Practice Happy
Pay attention and notice those little pockets of joy that sneak into your day. We are conditioned to think about everything that has gone wrong, is going to go wrong, or could go wrong. It is human nature.
How do you feel happy?
Pay attention and notice those little pockets of joy that sneak into your day. We are conditioned to think about everything that has gone wrong, is going to go wrong or could go wrong. It is human nature.
In those thoughts, we are not really focusing on what is important. What is important, is the moment you are in. It really is as simple as that.
If the moment you are in doesn’t feel happy, that moment is instructing you on what might be able to do to make the next moment a better one.
I talk about past and future thinking all the time. Most people, me included, can get caught up in thoughts of lack in all forms. Until you realize that there is absolutely nothing lacking, and it is your mind that creates the sense of lack.
When I speak of lack, it is about the lack of all kinds of things. Lack of abundance, well-being and love.
To me, all things are about abundance.
Sometimes I hear people talk about how lacking they are in their lives. They may have the most amazing home, and still feel like the echoes of sadness run through the house trying to find that pocket of joy. The problem is, that they have forgotten about the house being an accomplishment they set out to create for themselves in the first place. Think of the person who built the bridge you might drive on. That person put so much work into building the bridge because they wanted to keep someone safe.
When a person talks to me about the lack of love in their life, they forget that there is love everywhere you turn. Nature is the greatest teacher of that. Yesterday, a little hummingbird got hurt. I took it to a rehab centre in the next community over. I opened the door to take it there and its mate came flying into the house. I talked to both of them with love. The little mate, flew outside, but hovered close by. It told it that I would take care of his mate the best way I could. Instead of being sad, I thought about how amazing nature is. We may not think that a little bird like that could feel, but it does.
I want you to remember something. Life isn’t about what happened to you or how your future will unfold. Life is about this amazing moment you are in, where you get to choose. YOU, get to choose how you feel.
Life isn’t happening to you, life is happening for you. So for this moment, choose happy. And this moment, and this moment. The possibilities in life are endless.
