The Power of Self Love on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day. A day that so often revolves around flowers, chocolates, grand gestures, and declarations of love. It’s beautiful, truly, to see love celebrated so openly. But for many, this day can bring up feelings of loneliness, longing, or even a sense of not being ‘enough.’

Here’s the truth: Love begins with you.

Not in a clichéd, overused self-help kind of way, but in a deep, soul-nourishing, life-changing way. The love you give yourself can affect every relationship in your life.

How you connect with friends, family, romantic partners, and even how you let others love you.

So, this Valentine’s Day, whether you are wrapped in the arms of a partner or standing beautifully on your own, I invite you to turn inward and embrace the most important relationship you will ever have.  There is no surprise here when I tell you it’s the one you have with yourself.

Loving Yourself is an Act of Power

When you choose to love yourself, you are choosing power. You are choosing to say:

  • I AM worthy, even if no one else reminds me today.
  • I AM enough, even without external validation.
  • I AM love, and I am loved.

Self love is not a consolation prize for those who don’t have a romantic partner on Valentine’s Day. It’s the beginning and the continuation of any relationship you have. It is the oxygen mask you put on first before extending love to others.

How to Celebrate Self-Love Today

If you’re feeling the weight of this day, if it’s bringing up longing or pain, here’s what I want you to do:

Speak to yourself the way you would to someone you adore. If your best friend was hurting today, you wouldn’t tear them down. You would remind them of their beauty, their worth, and how deeply they are loved. Speak to yourself with the same tenderness.

Do something that makes you feel alive. Take yourself on a date—whether it’s a walk by the ocean, a cozy café visit, or dancing in your living room. Love yourself in action.

Write a love letter to yourself. This may feel uncomfortable, but I promise you, it is powerful. What have you overcome? What makes you proud of yourself? What do you love about the person you are becoming?

Set a boundary with anything that doesn’t serve you today. That might mean staying off social media if it triggers comparison. It might mean saying no to plans that drain you. Choosing yourself is an act of love.

Connect with those who uplift you. Love comes in many forms. A deep conversation with a friend, a warm hug,  even the joy of petting a dog, love is everywhere when you are open to it.

You Are Worth Celebrating

Valentine’s Day is about love in all its forms. And you, exactly as you are, deserve to be celebrated today and every day.

So take a deep breath. Place your hand on your heart. And remind yourself: I AM love. I AM loved. I AM enough, I AM…….

Happy Valentine’s Day to YOU.

It really can be the  most beautiful love story of all. ❤️
